I had just left the Aira Force waterfall as I explained in my last blog and was on my way back toward the Langdale Valley with the intention of going to Blea Tarn.
I had parked in the small Aira Force car park on the A5091 so was now heading toward Ullswater and taking a right on the A592 towards Glenridding with the lake on my left.
As I drove along I noticed a flash of brilliant colour coming from the lake, I was going too fast to stop, so had to drive on to Glenridding Bridge before I could do a U-turn.
On getting back to where I thought I saw this burst of colour luckily there was a parking spot directly opposite. I had both the Canon 5DSR and the Fujifilm XT-3 in the car but decided to use the Fujifilm handheld as I need to crawl through a bush to get abetter view of the colour.
As you can see from the image the old boathouse was enveloped in a curtain of colour with the mountains in the background.
As the camera was handheld I had to contend balancing a high shutter speed while maintaining a reasonable ISO level, the camera details are below.
I have never seen this location in any books or internet sites and am not sure if I just came across it at the right time or if this is an annual display.
