Many photographers return to spots near wear they live as it allows them to really get to know a location throughout the year. I have a few place like that near me Two Tree Island being one of them.
At first I decided to get out early on Saturday morning to visit this location, but once up at around 5am I looked at the sky and it was clear of all clouds. I must admit I may have felt like laying in bed that morning, but on Sunday I was up and out.
Two Tree Island is about 17 miles from home and takes about 25 minutes to drive, the location the image was taken from is on a bridge connecting the island and the main land over the Benfleet Creek the low tide remnant can be seen in the photo.
I arrive about 30min before sunrise which was probably a little bit late, to compound this the camera battery’s were flat. I did however just manage to get set up in time to capture the best of the morning light.
I used 0.6 ND Lee hard graduated to tone the sky down and bracketed the shot, the images were merged in Photoshop.
